As every year on the 21st of February in Northfrisia, young and old met to celebrate Biikebrånen in Risum-Lindholm, the annual Frisian festivity. Traditionally the fire was enlightened at 7pm at the Üülje Browäi in Lindholm. The special highlight of this years Biike was the Maddelålder Floose, a group practicing medieval times, who walked with torches from the center of Risum to the Biike to enlighten the fire. Even though the weather wasn’t that nice, Frisians call it Biike weather, people were singing and enjoying the fire. And as always the Rökefloose Puns Woin was close to the fire, where everybody could get a small Te Puns or other refreshments. When the fire was finished the people went into the Pub called “Fraschlönj”. After a nice pea soup and an enlightening Biike speech, this year hold by Gerd Vahder, principal of the Nis-Albrech-Johannsen-School, people where excited about the traditional theatre. This year the Rökefloose performed the classic „Di Suurte hün foon Risem Måår“ (The Black Dog from Risem Meadow), as always a cracker. Afterwards the “Wattwöhlers” än DJ Dirk Bork played the music for the rest of the evening. The guests, as usual our friends from Westfrisia and even the YEN board, celebrated long and let the so called Biike weather behind them. Everybody is looking forward to the next years Biike!
